Today was our last layover day before the final push to Las Vegas. We headed out to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum on the outskirts of Tucson, AZ. This is 21 acre area of the Senora desert that displays present plants and animals of this vast 100,000 square mile area of the southwest United States and Mexico in their natural environment. It is a zoo, natural history museum and botanical gardens all rolled into one. It is a mostly outdoor experience that allows you to get into the desert first hand.
It took several hours to walk the nearly two miles of trails and study the various exhibits of the areas history. It was a pleasant way to spend the “day off” the road.
The pictures hopefully can express the beauty of the area better than I.
We had the perfect reminder that we are no longer in Toledo while staying in this campground. We were able to pick oranges, grapefruit, limes and lemons off the trees by just walking out of the motorhome. I am pretty sure some of them can be used in mixed drinks. I will have to look into that!
