First thing this AM we hiked
to the site where the Elwha dam was removed at a cost of over 350 million, so
the salmon could run again in the river. The original projected cost was under
50 million. This site has pictures of the before and after conditions. Today, there
is not much to see, but you can spot where the main dam section was located.
We drove to Olympic NP to look at the visitor
center. Decided not to drive up to Hurricane
Ridge. Very steep and way too many
people on the road. Went into town and
walked around and had lunch at a large Chinese restaurant where we were the
only customers. It was okay. Then drove out to wildlife area on a long
finger jetty. Good views of the
mountains and shipping.
Our final stop was the Gilgal
Oasis RV park in Sequim, WA. Very busy
but they found us a spot. Had to move
from the first one, as it turned, it was reserved for a longer stay. It was small but very nice campground.

We haven't really been doing much "site seeing" over the cooler months. And been so busy at the house. Time we think about checking out stuff to see here in our new home state. Thanks for the inspiration.
Now in the area of my hometown. You've reminded me how beautiful it is especially during the summer.
