Is there ice cream in Heaven??

I am not becoming obsessed with the hereafter or graveyards, but on the way to visit Stowe, VT, we stopped at the home of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. After parking in the back lot, since all the others were full, we headed towards the crowds. The first place we hit was the ice cream flavor graveyard-really!

We then headed to the headquarters to find there was at least an hour wait for the tour. The place looked like more of a carnival than business with outside vendors hawking their wares, and a huge crowd at the ice cream bar. You would have thought that they were going out of business and this was the last of the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Inside was another long line for the tour, which consisted of about a 15 minute walk past windows watching liquid ice cream being frozen and packed into containers.

The largest part of the operation appeared to be the gift shop, what a surprise. This was as overpriced as the ice cream. While I do not wish to offend any diehard fans, we find the ice cream ok, but not worth the higher price.

So as we quickly left the growing throng, I could not help but wonder if any of those passed flavors had any place to go?

I loved the graveyard. Had no idea they had done this. I'm not a big ice cream eater but hubby is, so I hope for his sake, there's ice cream in heaven.

That's pretty funny. I still like the old traditional - vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry...(unless I can have homemade peach) and I like Tillamook a lot better than Ben and Jerry's ;))

Looks like a great place to visit, and good blog fodder, but I agree with you that it's overpriced.

Ice Cream Heaven sounds good to me! I guess ice cream would melt in you know where!

You mean ice cream is not heaven? I've been so misguided all these years. That's hilarious about the flavor graveyard; had never heard of it.

Love Ben and Jerry's but not sure I would have waited in line for a taste!

Doubt we would have waited in line for the tour either, but the flavor graveyard might have been something cool to see.

Can't wait to see what other kinds of graveyards you encounter. :)

Ice Cream in Heaven? There's better be! Don't like those crowded places like that unless it's a real fun-type event like a small town festival, or a small classic car show. And a 15-minute walking tour looking through windows at liquid ice cream flowing into cartons sounds tiring and boring. Sorry about that. But we enjoyed the graveyard and the restroom doors!

I'm convinced there IS ice cream in heaven - hopefully, mint chocolate chip!

I'm sure there is ice cream in heaven! I prefer plain old chocolate and vanilla though.

That ice cream graveyard is hilarious. There is actually a writing activity where you put boring words into your word graveyard, like .... bad... good... fun.... and the students are not allowed to use them anymore. :) It just reminded me of it.
