Pahrump, NV

This last week we have been enjoying the activities in the RV Park and the warm weather. There have been some windy days, where you could observe the snow blowing off Charleston Peak. We did drive south into the salt flats and hot springs area to visit the China Ranch date farm, where Anneke became addicted to the dates that they grow in this oasis in the desert last year. It still is an amazing sight to come upon this valley of greenery. The story of the ranch was covered in our blog of 14 January, 2007.

The local economy seems to be suffering from the decline in the housing market like much of the country, but has that Nevada combo of casino’s and legal Bordello’s going for it.

When we left Las Vegas, we had to pay the highest price so far for Diesel-$3.65 a gallon, so we looked into one of the local famous businesses to see if Anneke could find some short term work. The jury is still out on that one.

Next will be a visit to Death Valley National Park to visit a few of the areas we missed last season.
