Last weekend, we attended a FMCA BATS chapter rally
in Vidalia, LA. The rally was held at
the River View RV Park along the Mississippi River. We always enjoy these fun rallies. Being
camped alongside the Mississippi River is always a special treat.
The campground has a section used largely by rallies
and other groups with available recreation hall. It has full hookups, WIFI, and
a pool.
Walking the campground, we came across one very old
trailer that looked just the like the one in the Lucille Ball movie, the Long
Long trailer. If you have not seen this
very funny movie about first time RV travel released in 1954, I would recommend
it.
We spent most of our spare time walking the river
paved path, enjoying the river traffic.
This an historically significant area of the river, with Natchez
directly across the river in MS. Natchez
was an early important port for goods from the north and local goods going to the sea port of New
Orleans. This area fell on hard times
during the Civil War and never regained its former status.
Even Jim Bowie was here and is remembered for a less
than flattering event.
We had quite some rain and moist air during our stay
and this made for some low fog rolling along the river and drifting over the
banks.
We did manage to get in some sightseeing and these
outing will be covered in the next post or two.

Beautiful photos, what a lovely place! I love seeing your photos and the places you get to visit, so thank you so much for sharing them.
I really like the pictures of the river. I've never been that far south, but maybe someday I will.
Nice that the park gas a separate section for rallies. Really enjoyed you oictures of the muddy Mississippi. Neat foggy ones.
It looks like it's been rather cold in Vidalia. I would have expected some beautiful blue skies. Perhaps, we left those in Arizona.
Put this on my Pinterest. The campground looks great. I love the photos of the Mighty Mississippi.
LOVE the fog pictures!
The bridges look interesting. Without green grass and leaf'd trees it looks much like it will look here in a few weeks when/if the snow all melts.
Love those fog pictures! Really a cool effect!
Watching the river is always fun for us.
