We have completed half of our time looking after our
grandchildren Victoria and Nico. It has been lots of fun, very tiring, and
occasionally requiring the patience of a saint.
Perhaps the hardest part has been the need to be on a strict schedule. This is not something that we are really use
to anymore. We certainly have been
reminded of our childrearing years and, as I have noted before, it is a young person's
job!
Much of the time has been pretty routine stuff. Feeding and changing Nico and trying to
keep Victoria entertained.
There were lots of things to keep everyone
busy. First it was the Halloween event
at the local zoo.
Then is the visit every Thursday to the library for
story time and the weekly selection of books.
There was, of course, the occasional directions to
not completely clutter up their parents house.
We did a tour of the Fort Pickens historic site. We
even went to our favorite fish restaurant in Pensacola Beach with their mom for
lunch. It turns out that Victoria loves
Grouper bites with fries.
One of the big hits was a visit to the Gulfarium on Okaloosa
Island.
On one slow day, Victoria and I went to Hurlburt Air
Force Base and gave the outdoor aircraft display a close examination. For some reason, she was not interested in my
explanations of the importance and use of each aircraft and gave each a
different amount of scrutiny based on a system I failed to understand.
Finally, as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday,
Victoria, with a little help, built her own ginger bread house.
So it has been for the last weeks!

Ohhhh my! YOU have had your hands full. You are going to need a long road trip and some R and R.
Such beautiful kids and great pictures. The exhaustion will wear off, but the memories will remain.
Wow you are some grandparents! Did we really do all that with our own kids?? Great pictures. They are beautiful children. When do you get to retire? LOL
It certainly is a job for the young. We had our kids when we were barely in our 20's. It worked then. Not sure I would want to start raising them again. However, like you, we also helped with the grandkids.
What cute kids. It's so nice to have you babysitting them, instead of a daycare. I don't think I'd like the strict schedule either!
Love my grandkids like crazy but they sure can wear me out! That's when it's nice to be able to give them back ;)
What a great memory maker.
Your grandkids are growing like weeds and more adorable with each picture!
But Victoria and Nico didn't totally mess up the house, it looks like there was plenty of room left..to mess up! ;c)
Tiring? Yes. Would you want to miss them growing up? I doubt that! :cD
WOW...I want to be your granddaughter. Victoria and I would have a blast. I love all those activities.
Nico has got the hip hair look going on. Hahahaha
That Victoria sure is growing up. Seems like only last month she was the little baby.
I'm now exhausted from reading about everything you've been doing. I figure by the time I have a grandchild I'll be too old to even be able to hold them. lol But your grandbabies are sooo cute.
Great blog and pictures of your absolutely beautiful grandchildren.
It's terrific that you are able and willing to spend so much time with them - nothing beats time spent!!
Good for you for spending quality (and quantity) time with Victoria and Nico. I enjoyed seeing all the pictures!
Those little kids are beyond cute!!! Are you napping now? :)
whew! I need a nap after reading about all your activities! They sure are cute - you are truely blessed.
