After leaving Mayport Naval Station, we made a stop
at Anastasia State Park in St Augustine to have lunch with old friends and then
on to the rally. After leaving the Naval
base, we entered an extended period of no internet. Each time this happens, I am amazed how much we rely on and miss this connection
to the rest of the world.
This was our first Good Sam Rally and we found it to
be very well organized with a lot of
fun. It turned out afterwards that there were a number of people there that
we knew. With over 3000 rigs and the
large grounds of the Daytona Speedway, it would be difficult to just run across
each other.
There was certainly plenty to do , from looking at the
latest RV's to all the vendors and entertainment. We did manage to get lots of walking in.
We really enjoyed looking at some of the classic
rigs on display and talking with their owners.
They are a very special group of RVers.
We were invited to the VIP reception, I think because
we bought a new RV from Camping World.
It was a great time and we got to spend some time in the Speedway Museum
.
One of the things that brought us to the rally is
our enjoyment of Country Western music. Kenny
Rogers and Reba McIntyre were the main entertainment at the rally and they both
put on terrific shows. I developed my country
music flare as a kid. My mother would
play all the big names of the day while she cooked an cleaned and it just stuck
with me.
We thoroughly enjoyed the rally and would certainly
like to attend another in the future!
The end!

what a great place for a rally!..glad you enjoyed yourselves!
That looks like a lot of fun. I would have enjoyed hearing Kenny Rogers in person...love his music.
Sorry we didn't get to meet up. It was a great rally. I'm looking forward to future Good Sam rallies.
How did I not know kenny and tens were going to be there? Sounds like fun.
I've seen this now from a couple different perspectives. Seems like it was pretty neat. Nice to see you enjoyed it.
That was a huge rally! Love the classic rigs; just beautiful.
Wow! What a huge rally. Been to lots of rally's but never one that big.
We, too, like Country Music. In fact that's how Len and I met almost 25 years ago. - Country dancing. (He's quite the dancer still)
When I think of Kenny Rogers I think of his plastic surgery. I can hardly stand to look at him or Dolly Parton. Their faces look completely bizarre.
We went four days without TV...I felt like we were disconnected with the world!
Those classic rigs look super. Just image traveling in them compared to all the luxuries we have now...WOW
So glad you enjoyed The Rally! Unfortunately, in our first year out, we attended three very large rallies within a very short period of time, and haven't had any desire to go to another big one. Reba and Kenny might have enticed us, however, if we were currently on the road. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a fun event. Have always wondered what it would be like to attend one. thanks for the post.
Looks like you guys had a blast..
The thought of a rally that big did not appeal to me at all, but you actually made it sound like a lot of fun! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I've been mixed on attending a rally. With your report, I think I'll try a GS rally in the future. I also have to get to Mayport, I keep missing going that way.

Not sure we'll ever attend a rally ... just seems like too many people to me. But hey, never say never.
Looks like you had a great time. Kevin has been in that museum once before. I think that was a great place to hold the rally. I'm not much of a country music fan but once many, many years ago I saw Kenny Rogers at a concert and really enjoyed his music.

Great venue for the rally. The GS event would be one I would like to to in the future. Glad ya'll had a "good time", sounds like the title to a country song!!
Just caught up on your blog after Bob's surgery and recovery.
Wow! The Rally looks like a lot of fun. Nothing better than gathering with "your own kind" either in large or small groups.
