Waiting for an epiphany

The last week has been an active one. We have been busy with baby arrival preparations including several baby showers. The quandary for me has been what to write about in the blog. The blog has always been about our travels and very little about daily life. Since the motorhome is going to be stationary for some months to come, the question is what is blog worthy? I have been reading other blogs for some inspiration on this topic. They are all different, which is what makes them interesting. Some focus almost exclusively on daily life, including coffee, meals and shopping etc. Others lean toward more on emotional and social activities. All good for those who write them and I read and enjoy them all.

My epiphany has not yet arrived, but I am just going to start expanding what topics I put in the blog. The option of not writing I found, to my surprise, was not very appealing and made me feel a bit guilty about not writing more often. So while waiting for the light bulb to switch on, I will press on.

Despite three children and one grandson in my life, I really never had much involvement in the baby shower tradition. I can no longer say that. I have helped with the preparations for one and actually observed at least some of the secret ceremonial process. For example, who knew there was such a thing as a diaper cake? Of course, I also got to load up the goodies that are a major part of the event. At least from what I am able to observe, the attendees take this very seriously and are very generous with the gifts to the new mother.

I must say that after seeing what goes on, I am glad that I am not expected to take part. I am not sure I would fare well in some of the activities that occur. At the risk of violating some secret classification, I will share a few of these with you. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I'm glad you found the thought of not writing unappealing! I must admit that I'm not too interested in what you have for breakfast or when you have a cup of Joe. How about glueing your camera to your side no matter what you do? Well, maybe not everywhere you go... :)I'd bet you would find something interesting, and then we'd find it interesting too. :)

It appears the baby shower(s) were a great success. It certainly is a way for the new parents to be to start out with many of the necessities.

I am not one to give advise on blogging topics as I've had my share of blog-block, but something tells me that once that baby comes, you won't have any trouble finding things to blog about :)

I know exactly what you mean about feelin' guilty. I too try to keep it interesting, about RV'ing, about travel. After all that's why we started this bloggin', but after reading other's posts, realizin' I haven't posted in a while, I too feel guilty for not 'keeping up'. Some times it's due to blogger's block, but for whatever reason, I have to write. Here's hopin' your epiphany will arrive and enlighten you.

I'm impressed that you attended a baby shower and lived to talk about it! ;c)

I (we) like to blog and agree that it can be difficult to find interesting topics to blog about, but once the writting starts, things seem to fall into place.

When we're able to do something, we both are glad to have a new topic that we can write about. We're practising to get out blogging perfected for when we get on the road.

Keep posting, we'll keep reading!

I'm glad you decided to keep blogging. One things for sure, you're not going to please everyone! Already, one commenter doesn't want to hear about your coffee or breakfast!! Others might like to.

The best advice I received and I still follow it, is to write about whatever is of interest to me - it's my blog. Forget about trying to please everyone because I never will.

Glad you found "not writing" a poor option! We enjoy reading all kinds of blogs, not just the traveling ones.

I post mostly for me and my family, but I don't like feeling like I have to blog. If it becomes a job or pressure, that's when I am through.
