Heading to Warrenton, OR

18 June 17

On our way to Warrenton, we first stopped at the Mt ST Helens State Park visitors center.  Watched a movie about the 1980 eruption and aftermath.  Toured the exhibits and looked over the cloud covered mountain.

Then passing thru the town of Astoria, OR we visited the Maritime Museum, which had a large USCG exhibit mostly about the surf boats on the Columbia River.  Also, toured the retired USCG lightship.  The USCGC Steadfast was moored on the same pier.

When we were in Astoria back in 2011 the museum didn't allow photos inside. Your pic brought back some great memories.

Would you say the Mt. St. Helens stop is a "must see?" We missed it last time we were up that way and wondered if we should try to go back.

Sounds like quite a full day touring the Maritime Museum. I bet seeing the events on pic of the Mount St Helens eruption had a sobering affect. Especially with the unsettled volcano in Hawaii. Glad you enjoyed your tours.
