Traveling Team Addition

We are leaving Colorado Springs in the morning. It was not the visit we planned mostly due to Anneke not feeling well. The good news is that the most important part of our visit was a big success. We had a good visit with our daughter, Katie and boyfriend Dain and the three dogs and cat.

The other not so good surprise was the no warning failure of my lap top two days ago. Due to our imminent departure and lack of quick repair possibilities, my only choices were to share a laptop with Anneke or get myself a new one. I opted for the new laptop to avoid unnecessary conflict. As we all know, this in itself is a huge pain in the rear in setting it up and getting rid of the junk that Bill and company feel free to load on the machine, but I am nearly finished with that. Thanks to my near obsession with backups, I did not lose any data.

The Air Force Academy has a beautiful location with many vistas of the mountains and a chance to view the activities of the cadets as they prepare for a career in the Air Force. We spent some time watching them learn to jump from airplanes and fly without an engine in the sailplanes that are perfect for this mountain region with its well known uplifts of air. A skilled pilot can climb to 30, 000 feet and repair aloft all day without an engine after being released from the tow plane.

Today we enjoyed a BBQ at the motorhome with Katie, Dain, Hemi and Halley. It was a great time and a nice way to end our visit. This brings me to the really big change in our traveling circumstances.

With only a small amount of emotional blackmail, we have agreed to take the smallest of the dogs (Halley) with us for the duration of Katie’s deployment to the Middle East. This will be a big change for us, but we wanted to do our part to help make this adventure easier on Katie. Based on the blogs I read I am sure she will be a regular feature in this blog for the next five months.

Please welcome Halley to our traveling team!

Congratulations on your new traveling companion!! I think you all will make a fine team!
The Air Force Academy is a nice facility sitting in a gorgeous area. We loved that chapel!!
Glad you all have had a great visit with Katie before her deployment. Hope Anneke is feeling better.
Sorry about the laptop but I can certainly relate!! My new one is so much better but it is a hassle to change over. Good luck!

Emma sends a big RV welcome to Halley. :) She's hoping to sniff noses (or other body parts) with her sometime.

Bummer about the laptop. Hope Anneke (sp) is feeling better. :)

A big welcome to Halley, she looks to be a perfect rv'ing pup - just the right size. Hopefully, we'll be seeing lots more photos of Halley in the future.

You guys are terrific for taking on the new team member....and such a cutie, too! One thing your daughter does not need to do after she is deployed is to worry about her dog. Nice work, Mom and Dad!
