Heading into Utah

Leaving Rawlins, WY heading west on I-80, we headed into Utah climbing and descending and climbing again and so on. We saw a number of heavy trucks on the climbing sections along the side of the road and a number of RV’s on the descending side pulled over checking their brakes. It was more work than I anticipated, but no problem for the coach.

The scenery was bleak much of the way, but still interesting. We stopped at the Utah welcome center to stretch our legs and give our new member, Halley, a chance to relax. These moving days are proving stressful for her and she has found her best spot to ride it out. She sits on the step cover and hides her head under the passenger seat. A brave dog she is not!

We will be exploring Salt Lake City for a week.

If I remember, that Welcome Center has some beautiful red rocks nearby that I could never photograph successfully. That's generally pretty scenery until you get to SLC - I would drive way around that place whenever I could!

Poor Haley!

Some really vivid colors in those pictures - I'd say the new camera was a good choice.

not sure where you will be staying or stopping in UT, but we recommend East Bay RV Park in Springville, UT (near Provo?). it is right at west foot of Wastatch(sp?) Mountains, very nice facility. from there you can explore Old Town Provo; & drive the mountain loop through Provo Canyon to American Fork Canyon. on the loop you can check out Bridal Veil Falls, Timpanogos Cave & Redford's Sundance. we had to do an emergency computer repair there in 2004.
