First day on the road

8 Nov 2006

We managed to close up the house and get underway by late morning. Target for the day, Bedford, Pa enroute to Hopewell, Va to visit our youngest, Katie, while she is in training in Fort Lee, Va. Weather went from fair to poor, with mountain fog and light rain following us along. This was enhanced by the lunatic truck drivers going downhill at 80MPH on sharp curves. We have also learned that in PA high tolls go hand in hand with really poor road conditions. On the bright side, this enabled us to locate every single loose piece of gear in the motorhome.

We are camped at Friendship Village Campground, Bedford, Pa. While we have only seen it in the dark so far, they do have cable TV and WIFI.

Tomorrow we are heading for Staunton, Va to visit a campground that we stayed at 20 years ago, just after it opened. Who said you can not go home again?

So at least we have survived the first day without disaster-shooting for two in a row.

Life on the road begins.
