Another year

Another year has begun and we look forward to more interesting travel adventures in the year ahead. The old year went out quietly, which seems to me to be a very reasonable way to say farewell. Before the year closed out, we made a trip to Foley, Alabama with Heather and Katie to see what damage could be done at a rather large outlet shopping center. For myself, I was less enthused with the idea of more shopping but gladly performed the driving duties. Based on the return volume of cargo, there was more there than I would have thought to attract their interest. Given the statements lately on the need to get the consumers spending, I guess it is a relatively good thing that all shoppers are not like me.

The New Year festivities were held at Heather and Ryan’s home and included a few of their friends, as well. I would guess that most were able to rise in the morning without any queasy feelings. No New Year’s celebration would be complete without the traditional Dutch oliebollen. The nearest American item would be a donut, but not quite the same. They were good!

We were able to spend a bit of time on the beach both at the campground and the shore, despite some poor weather and lingering colds and injury recovery issues. We hope to pick up the pace of activities as the New Year progresses.

We hope that you all had a safe and Happy New Year and that 2009 proves to be a successful and healthy year for all.

Those look a lot like Italian Zeppolli's - just needs some powdered sugar. Now I'm drooling...
