Tug boats and RV’s

Before heading back to Florida and dealing with the many boxes that need to be sorted, we made two more stops.  The first was at the Tom Sawyer Campground in West Memphis.  This is the right place if you enjoy watching the river traffic on the Mississippi and enjoy hearing the tugboat engines and ship whistles during the night.  Your camp spot is right on the levee close to the action, where you can just sit and watch the river traffic go by your door.

After getting our river and boat fix, we made a short trip south to visit with a couple that Anneke got to know via Face book.  They are Dutch who have lived in the USA for many years.  It was easy to decide where to camp in Coldwater, Mississippi, since they own the South Memphis campground, just one mile from their home.  We had a great get together with good conversation and lots of Dutch style food.   I had such a good time; I failed to take any pictures except for one of the campground..

From Coldwater, we pushed on home to get to work.  We are already thinking about our next anytime RV journey.

Hm. Watching boats with a dog on your lap. Pretty awesome.

That levee campground by the big river --- I would have loved that. When I was young we biked down to the North-East Canal in Schleswig Holstein to watch the ship traffic go by.

We loved the Tom Sawyer park in Memphis too. There's something very relaxing about just sitting there and watching the traffic go by.

Love watching all the ships and boats wander up and down the river. Not much can beat that for relaxation. Beautiful campground that your friends own. Nice big spaces.

I'm always in awe of how those tugs can handle all those barges and how the Captains and manuever them around such tight spaces.

I'd have had a hard time leaving that beautiful spot.

Looking forward to your next RV adventure.

We were told to not miss Tom Sawyer Campground. The next time we are through that area, we WILL be there.
Glad you have such a wonderful time with the Dutch friends. I am sure Anneke was thrilled to share a Dutch dinner with them.

What a great header pictures. A campsite doesn't get much better than that one. Front row water front seat for all the doin's.

I really liked the river shots and the towboats. Amazing that they can push the barges with such precision.

Sure could use a day of just sitting and watching.

That campground with all the river and boat action seems like a really nice place to stay.

Tom Sawyer Campground...I'd stay just for the name of the place. It looks wonderful and watching the river traffic would be a kick. Looks like you had a nice play to stay at your friend's park too.
