Aug 4th 1790 to Aug 4th 2011

221 years and going strong! On Aug 4th 1790, President George Washington created the Revenue Cutter Service which was the start of the modern Coast Guard. I am no doubt prejudice, but this organization continues to provide a tremendous service to this country. It has numerous roles to play both in peace and wartime and can be found in many unexpected places. The men and women of this service work hard every day to make our lives better and safer.

It is a bit shocking to me that with 30 years of Coast Guard service, how few pictures I have of all that time.

Once again I am happy to say: Happy Birthday Coast Guard.

I guess it just goes to show when you were busy doing your job serving our country you didn't always have a camera handy! Happy B-day CG!

Great tribute to the Coast Guard. I'm glad you said you had 30 years service because I thought you were going to tell us you were there when President George Washington created the Coast Guard!!

Happy Birthday, indeed. Without the men and women who serve in the Coast Guard our waters would not be the same. "Stay safe!"

Happy Birthday Coast Guard! Thank you for saving our lives several years ago while in the Florida Keys!

Thank YOU for YOUR service. We got assistance twice from the Coast Guard. Once for ourselves and once when a diver on our boat nearly died and had to be airlifted to a hospital. He lived and so did we!

Happy Coast Guard Day from one Coastie to another. I'm going to miss the celebrations this year, but there is always next year. :c)

I have been lucky to have a few pix of my CG years, but I have lots more in my mind that I wish I had taken.

Nice header picture, I was there when the Cutter Mackinaw was launched sideways into the river. That was something to see and I'll never forget it.

Enjoy the day! Semper Paratus!

Yes, happy birthday to the Coast Guard. You guys and gals do a great job. And we want to thank you and all people who are in military service, or who have been, for serving us and our country. Our hats are off to you all!
