Veteran"s Day

Today we remember our veterans and active duty military that have served their country and defended our way of life. There have been millions of service men and women who have heeded the call to serve throughout our nation’s history. Many of those have paid the ultimate price to keep the rest of us safe. Their sacrifice cannot be forgotten.

I am proud to say that members of my family have also seen fit to serve their country in military service. My grandfather served in the marines. My father and his brother both served in WWII, with my uncle being wounded in the pacific and my father making the D day landing on Normandy. Several other members of this generation of my family also served during WWII.

My brother and I started in service at a young age, my brother in the navy and I in the Coast Guard. I must have liked it, as I stayed on for 30 years.

Next our son in law-Ryan- served in the Air Force including duty in Iraq.

Finally, our daughter Katie is currently serving in the Air Force and is pictured here from last week in Baghdad, Iraq.

So for me, Veterans Day is a bit more than a national holiday, it is a reminder of how we really manage to hang on to our freedoms that so many others would like to take from us.

Congratulations to you for your own service and that of your dear family ones. And thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for us. Our family (except for one uncle in WWI) have not had the opportunity to serve, especially time of conflict) but we sure honor those who have. Thank you again.

Chuck,

From our family to yours. We sincerely appreciate and thank you and your family for their sacrifices in the defense of this great country. It's because of those like your father and grandfather that we are able to call this nation the land of the free and home of the brave.

We will keep Katie in our prayers and will celebrate with you on her safe return home.

Love in Christ,
Rollie & Gina

Your family has a great tradition of serving our country and your tribute to them was great to read. My husband served in the USAF for eight years before he continued his service in the Reserves supporting those in the trenches of recent conflicts in that capacity.

May your daughter remain safe and return home soon.
