Mount Rushmore

You can hardly pass by this area without visiting Mount Rushmore. This is one of the must see national monuments/memorials. This is Anneke’s second visit and my third. Each of my visits have been twenty some years apart. The monument remains impressive both physically and in its representation of the American dream of freedom for all.

A lot of changes have been made to the park over the years, mostly for the better. Views from the visitor center and the hiking trail are striking.

We attended the evening show with a very good presentation by a park ranger about the history and meaning of the sculpture, followed by what can only be described as a patriotic movie and then the lighting of the mountain.

There is also a good deal of information on the construction of the project along with interactive presentations by the park staff.

This is a place to visit for people of any age.
