Spending some time in the past

2-4 May 18

Our next stop was the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village in Tiffin, GA.  We arrived later in the afternoon and were not prepared for the size of the exhibits.  We toured the historic grounds in about two hours before closing time.  If you are interested in this type of history and enjoy talking with reenactors, you could easily spend the entire day here.  There are very interesting exhibits, structures and complete farms to visit.  Most of them have reenactors who will tell you stories and willing to answer your questions.

Our last stop in Georgia is the Reed Bingham State Park. This park has amazing Live Oak trees and good trails for hiking.

Our last stop of the trip was at Falling Waters State Park, FL, where we have stayed before.

What a step back in history and a taste of life in the earlier days, I bet it was very interesting. Reed Bingham has been our elusive butterfly, we planned many times to go there but something came up that prevented us from making the trip there. Thanks for sharing.

We find we stop at just about every place like this. This year I am reding series of books about women in Oregon and Washington during the late 1800's to the mid 1900's. Looking at the historical houses and farm collections goes right along with them. My biggest observation is how much they did with so few things. Regular people only had one or two changes of clothes each.

We enjoy stepping back in time by visiting sites like this one. If we get back east, we’ll be sure to add this to our sightseeing list.

The first pictures of the houses in the museum looked like turn of the century but then older than that. Reenactors are always fun. We enjoyed Falling Waters when we were there. Were the waters overflowing or has Florida not been having the rains the mid Atlantic is getting??

I just love old machinery. It is fascinating to see the ingenuity of the days of old. Maybe that's why I enjoyed being a Coast Guard snipe early in my career, lots of old machinery in those old cutters... :cD
