Continuing east

Yesterday and today have been travel days heading east along I80.  Yesterday we passed thru Salt Lake City and started our climb up to the high plains area. We did not stop in Salt Lake City, as we had explored this area some years ago.  Our first stop was at the Bonneville Salt flats.  My first thought was of those immigrants heading west to California in the mid 1800"s mostly on foot.  The mural from the trail center came to mind immediately.  Today these salt flats are perhaps best known for the speed records set here on the one mile course.

As you drive along it is desolate but amazing scenery.

Another  stop was an overlook of the Echo Reservoir.

We stopped for the day at Phillips RV park in Evanston, which was fine with the exception of unfriendly staff and an obsession for putting large boulders in all the places RV's need to turn.  It also happens to be the only RV park in town.

Today, we left Evanston after visiting the Bear River State Park,  It has some walking trails, a view of the river, lots of picnic facilities and a very nice free RV dump station.

Heading east was continued climbing and enjoying the view.  We crossed the continental divide. In fact, based on the road signs we did so several times.  We landed in Rawlins,Wy for the night. We are staying at the same campground we were in Aug 2010.  Since we explored the area then, we will be moving east again tomorrow.

We've passed the Bonneville Salt Flats several times but have never stopped. We always seem to be rushing. It seems every time we go through Salt Lake City the roads are all torn up. Hopefully, one of these days they'll get them put back together.

Never heard of Bonneville Salt Flats. Looks like a really cool place to visit.

Great Pics documenting your travels.
Always wanted to stop at Bonneville but just didn't get there.
There is nothing that turns you off about a park like Miserable Staff.
Putting Big Rocks where you need room to maneuver has caused us to leave some parks.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

We followed the route you're taking when we brought the motor home east from Oregon in 2010. Our time was limited so no sightseeing then, unfortunately. Nice wildlife sightings.

America has such diverse scenery, much of it too beautiful for words.

Jim had sooo much fun driving on the salt flats. Took us forever to get all the salt off the truck when he was done playing.
