Yesterday, an air show at the Pensacola Naval Air
Station welcomed the Blue Angels home, marking the end of this year air show
season. We headed over to the base early
with the motorhome and found a parking spot just a short walk to the flight
line. This allowed us to go back and
forth to the motorhome for food, A/C and a clean bathroom.
There was a full day of static displays and flight demonstrations with a well known civilian
aerobatic teams. There were some amazing nighttime aerobatic demonstrations with
streaming fire tails and fireworks being shot out from the belly of the planes,
but unfortunately pictures were not an option in the dark. The day ended with a
professional fireworks display which was among the longest I have seen in some
time. The highlight of the show was certainly an hour performance by the Blue
Angels. I have seen them many times over
the years and they are always a crowd pleaser.
Here are pictures that show some of the day's
highlights.
Of course, taking pictures of aircraft flying all over
the sky at up to 450 MPH can be challenging, especially when they are near the
ground over the runway with lots of people all around. So I thought I would include some of the
almost got pictures. (bloopers)

I got to go to that when I was there!!! it was GREAT!!! HOT!!!
Almost misses or not, you got some great shots of the action. I had to smile when you said you parked the motor home close for bathroom, kitchen and A/C. Here in Northern California, we don't need the A/C any more this year! Seems like you enjoyed the show.
Wow, great action shots! :)
I love watching the Blue Angels. It looks like you had a fantastic viewing site.
What a great show they put on. We saw the Blue Angels several years ago. They made me nervous. I love the bloopers....lol
Great shots. We visited Pensacola a few years ago but they were not flying at that time. But while in Alaska last summer we did get to see the Thunderbirds. Yup, have to be really focused and quick to get those good shots.
Now I know why you bought a house in Pensacola. ;c)
Great shots, I never would have anything but sky and clouds.
