Bluegrass Festival

I thought it was time to take a break from recapping our Canadian Maritime adventure.  It is a bit of a taunting task to organize all the pictures from the trip, especially since we have been busy with other much shorter but fun RV trips since returning from Canada.

Our bluegrass festival outing came by chance when we met the owner of the Holiday Hills Bluegrass Park while visiting a heritage festival the weekend before the Bluegrass Festival.

We decided to camp at the festival and enjoy the fun.  We also let our FMCA club know about it and we were joined there by two coaches from the club.  The park is located near the border with Alabama and no question it is in a very rural area.  When I viewed the park on Google Earth, it was clear that there would be some dirt roads involved.  One of our club members went in a day earlier than us and soon we were receiving advice how to avoid the worst of the bad roads. The rough dirt road of just over a mile was the only bad part of the weekend.

The grounds comprise over 140 acres that are family owned and they only do two festivals a year.  The whole family is heavily involved in the process.

We arrived two days early and were able to get a nice level spot.  There is water and electric at each site and they also allow dry camping at no charge.  There are lots of grounds to walk and enjoy the great weather and quiet of the country.

It appears that many of the campers are here to meet with their fellow Bluegrass jammers and  play all around the park all day and late into the night.  We enjoyed walking around and listening to the various groups.

There is also two days of performances in the covered hall with a total of seven bands.

The clear nights and bright stars made for a great close to each day.

Made me laugh a bit, I so get it about trying to catch up all those previous photos from long travel and getting behind on the current stuff. Maybe I'll follow you lead and take a break from Ireland to talk about our gorgeous October day right here!

I really have to remember to use Google Earth. Enjoy the festival and fall weather.

That sounds just like my kind of festival. I love bluegrass. I've been blogging quite a bit but once we get back to AZ it will slow down to nothing again. It's either feast or famine.

Looks like a wonderful bluegrass festival. We always loved the pick up jams all around as well as the programmed music.
