Untowable

After a more than 18 months of experience with our new motorhome, we have satisfied ourselves that we can travel and explore without the need to tow a car. That means it is no longer necessary to keep our 2007 Saturn Vue.  This car followed the motorhome around for 50,000 miles and took us every place we wanted to explore in another 100,000 miles without a single failure.  In fact, in seven and a half years ( we bought it in 2006), it has only had oil/filter changes, one new set of tires and front brakes redone.  The car owes us nothing.  We had some great times with it, but it is time for a change.

After looking around for a few months we have settled on a 2014 Toyota Highlander XLE.  To be sure, it is a far more comfortable car than the Vue.  However, the manual is very clear that it cannot be towed four wheels down.  So we are definitely in an untowable mode now.

May your new car give as many memorable memories as your old one. It's a shame Saturn is no more. They were good cars. :c(

Enjoy your new wheels. Looks nice.

I would think your MH would get much better fuel mileage by not towing. I have a 2006 Highlander which I've been very satisfied with. Love the looks of the new one.

Nice set of wheels!

i got a little confused. You start out by saying that you have found you don't need to tow a car to explore. But you end up with a new vehicle that needs to be trailered or driven. Not sure exactly what you are doing.

Congratulations. We wish you the best of luck with your new purchase.

Very interesting that you don't feel the need to have a toad with your MH! My first inclination would be that it might make things a bit more difficult to do grocery shopping for staples like bread and milk.

You are definitely cutting the strings and setting out on a new life. There's no need to tow if you have nothing to tow with.

Kinda sad to part with an old friend. Hopefully you'll enjoy the Toyota. We never bothered to tow a vehicle behind our Class A. Just a couple bikes, and making sure we had enough groceries on board.

Looks like your Saturn Vue served you well as a toad. And it also sounds like you'll enjoy the new car as well. Enjoy!

That picture of your Vue on the beach would have made a good ad for the vehicle. Enjoy your Highlander. I had a hybrid Highlander that looked just like yours ... color and all. Had to sell it since it was not towable four-down. I really liked that car. Happy driving.

Hey, that's a nice new car for you. But always a bit sad to let go of a good car.:-)

We are with Judy on this, a little confused, but we are used to it :-)

We all make choices that work for us and I know there are so many ways to do this 'RVing Thing'. Would love to hear more about your new car.

Nice looking car. We are looking at getting a Honda CV-R to use as a toad, but not until we get home.

I was confused at first but now I see you traded cars. Ever thought of a tow dolly? We tow our accord that way and it works great. Less expensive than setting up all the parts for a tow 4 down.
