Schoodic Peninsula

There is an additional part of the Acadia National Park located a few peninsulas north of the main park. It is part of the Schoodic scenic byway. There is a loop road within the Schoodic part of the park and a drive that includes several small towns, whose primary industry remains fishing. These include Winter Harbor, Prospect Harbor, Birch Harbor and Bunker Harbor. These are probably as close as you can come to traditional Maine fishing communities. With that in mind, we drove the entire byway and enjoyed more of the rugged Maine coast and at least a small insight into the life of these small communities.

We stopped along the way to watch the fishermen doing their thing. It is very picturesque but the reality of this business is hard work and a hit or miss outcome.

I especially like the picture of all the row boats tied up to the same post. They look like pedals of a flower all radiating out from the center. :)

Love the rugged coastal scenery ... that last one with the lighthouse is my favorite. And second favorite the boats all tied to the dock.

Keep showing us more of New England! That area is the one part of the country we'll not likely get to, so we love to see it through your eyes and your lens! Your header photo is splendid!

These are great pictures of a beautiful place I didn't even know was part of Acadia. We were in Maine many years ago and are looking forward to returning. You are giving us a lot of great information. Keep it coming. I now have a LOT of unexpected reading time.

Many thanks and thanks too for your comments on my blog.
