Happy Birthday, Halley

Halley turns 4 today. She has been with us since last August, when our daughter was getting ready to be deployed to the Middle East. Happily, she returned to the states safe and sound many months ago, yet we still have Halley with us.

We realized that today was her birthday by one of those odd juxtapositions of events. When we arrived at our current campground, we were asked for proof of a current rabies vaccination. When we managed to find it, we also noted that today was her birthday.

She started life, we believe, in Mississippi and was sent to Las Vegas in a cardboard box to a pet store. This is where Katie found her, in poor condition and looking very sad. She could not help herself and took pity on her and took her home. The rest is history.

So today, her birthday present is that we are abandoning the guest label and accepting her as a full time addition to our travel team. She has a permanent home again.

Happy birthday, Hailey!

I ended up with a black lab back in the mid-1990's by default - he had belonged to my son who moved with his job. Best dog I ever had.

I thought maybe that is what was going to happen after Halley didn't go with your daughter when she returned. Good for her, and good for you!

Besides, you'd miss not going out in miserable weather for her walks. :)

She's a cutie and I'm so glad she has a loving home. It's awful how some dogs are treated. She's a lucky gal.
Happy Birthday Halley.

Truly a sweet little friend and great travel partner.

I asked about the NL because I did a trip to ACTEUR back in 2007 with the flag from LANTAREA. I was curious to see if our paths might have crossed but you were living the good life by then. ;c)

The NL is one place I'm going to go back to with my bride, when you're doing a week long visit, there isn't really enough time to enjoy anything, except at the VADM's pace (and those are pretty fast).

Looking forward to sitting down with you one of these days on the road and exchanging sea stories. A few of mine are actually true...

Happy Belated Birthday Halley. I am only just now trying to get caught up on some past blogs. We have spent a fair bit of time in upstate New York over the years. Our son Alex went Jefferson College in Watertown for two years and when he played baseball we went to a number of tournaments in the area. It is beautiful along the St. Lawrence where you are now. BTW, love the header picture of Victoria. She sure is getting big fast.
