Holding pattern

After the hectic days of the holidays and spending most of our time catching up with our daughter and SIL, we have entered a bit of a holding pattern. We are waiting for the birth of our first granddaughter, which is still four plus weeks in the future. Normally about this time we would be getting itchy feet to move on, but it is, in fact, just the beginning of our planned stay of up to four months here to be a part of the first few months of our granddaughter’s life.

While this is going to be a great period for us, it does require a bit of rework of what our life has been like for the last four years-namely traveling often. So, in between walks on the beach in surf producing winds and learning to be in a house on a regular basis, I have been working on my picture files and reliving places we have been during our RV journey and before. I have almost 13,000 pictures just from the first two years on the road on the computer, which still leaves me two more years of RVing pictures to review. So in those first two years, I figure I have taken at least 16K pictures including those that have ended on the editing room floor-know today as the recycle bin.

Our daughter in the Middle East is scheduled to return state side in two days and report to her regular duty station-The Air Force Academy. She is planning on taking some leave and visiting us in a week or so after her return. We have been researching some places for her to stay on the beach. After emails back and forth with her, we have confirmed a very nice penthouse condo for a few days. I think we will all be spending time there enjoying the views.

While I am not a very handy person, I did manage to assemble a baby changing table without the use of unacceptable language and luckily for me, not damaging the table. I am sure that “team baby” will be finding any number of things for me to do as we move ahead.

I may be sharing with you some of our past adventures as I slowly work my way through the photos.

A new baby expected soon, and another daughter on her way back home. Life doesn't get much better than that. To me, it's all about families and being together when you can, and traveling the country when you can.

Welcome back to your daughter; I'm sure you will all enjoy time together at that condo you picked out. Beautiful beach photos ... and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one with a huge backlog of travel photos that still need to be looked at and processed :-).

How exciting, a new grandchild and a daughter coming home. Enjoy these times for sure--I bet Halley will be glad to see your daughter, too.

Awesome that you have the time to get ready for the baby. Grandkids are really fun, have you made any plans to take your new grandbaby to Disney World yet? ;c)

Good job on the crib, and you didn't even draw blood. I'm very impressed!

Great header photo! Since your daughter is returning from overseas, does that mean that Halley's time with you will soon be ending?

Enjoy your time with your girls! :)

Great beach photos! Looks like you are in for an exciting few months there with a new granddaughter on the way and another daughter returning home.

At least you have a lot of photos to keep you busy while you're waiting - 13,000, wow!!

Congratulations on the upcoming addition to the family! You will love being grandparents...there is nothing like it :)
And, just as wonderful, having your daughter return from the Middle East. I'm sure you're relieved to have her home. Please thank her from us for serving.

If that place was mine those mirrored walls would have to go. The beach looks great though. Better than all the snow we have here in NE.

Congrats! I could think of worst places to be sitting. I hoe you have a metal detector for all that beach. All the Best, M&C

Chuck,
You must be the only one that thought Moist Soil Units is dandy! :) I really drew a blank with making that catchy. Thanks for the chuckle!!

We won't be far behind you on the baby front. Our daughter is due in 10 weeks and we will be in the same holding pattern that you are in. From our experience last winter and summer not moving around we still managed to find things to blog about.

As for pictures, Kevin and I make a habit of going throught each days pictures at the end of the day and weed out want we don't want. We are pretty tough with our choices so that we don't end up with too many. After that is done I label all the pictures the next day so that everything is still fresh in my mind.
