Church and flowers

Yesterday, we headed back to ST Andrews for the farmers market.  We parked in front of a wooden Anglican church and walked to the market.  Like many of these in the lower 48, there were more craft booths, than fresh food. But we did find some things we could use, fresh bread and radishes picked yesterday for lunch.

As we headed back to the motorhome, we stopped to admire the outside of the church.  As we stood there a man and his dog walked up to us and asked if we would like a tour.  It turns out that he is the church Sextant.  He guided us around the church and provided some of its history, which he quickly pointed out included a visit from Prince Charles and Lady Di.  There is a placard in the pew they occupied commemorating their visit.  The church was constructed by ship builders and the ceiling over Nave is in the shape of an inverted hull. The church history is a reflection of the Church Of England policy in the colonies.  It is well preserved and worth a visit.

The Kingsbrae Gardens are just up the hill from the church and is highly recommended in some travel guides.  It has 2700 varieties of plants and trees on 27 acres of well maintained groups and includes a children's garden, a working small windmill.  It is very nicely done.
