Avoiding heat exhaustion

The month of August has been hot and humid almost without relief.  So we have been spending a lot of time inside.  That is not to say that we have not been keeping ourselves busy. After all. we have two small grandkids who can keep us hopping whenever they are around. There have been lots of indoor activities including celebrating Nico's first birthday, which honestly he did not seem all that impressed with, but everyone else had a good time.

Then there was a visit to the Greek Festival, where both kids enjoyed the dancers.

Of course, there was lots of fun just hanging around the house.

We braved the hot weather to have a look at some of the boats that took part in the Poker Run held here annually.  Boats from all over the US come to the events and party hard.

One breezy day, we even spent a short time at the beach.

Navarre, Fl has a concert in the park on the water every Thursday evening during the summer.  We enjoy them whenever we can.

This first weekend of September, we attended our local Winnebago club rally in Foley, Alabama at Johnnies RV Resort.  This proved to be a very nice campground with a pool that includes a winding slow current cement river that allows you to just drift along without fear of attention from unwanted wildlife.  This is one of those parks that believes in lots of rules and signs to remind you less you forget.

  1. Yep, they believe in lots of rules and signs to make sure you remember the rules. Happy that you had a good time. We love Foley.

  2. Nico sure looks like he enjoyed his birthday. I am sure he gives you a ton of exercise.

The RV park in Foley looks awesome but so many rules. Foley is where we always stay when we visit Gulf Shores.

  3. I think that young man has the right approach to a birthday cake, eat part, wear part.

  4. Hard to believe Nico is one year old already!
You'll have to take him and his sister to the UP one summer. The temps there were so much more comfortable :)

  5. I can't believe Nico is a year old already. He's a darling. Your beach picture just after the concert one has me longing for sand and sea. Good to hear what you've been up to.

  8. Happy Belated Birthday to Nico! Sounds and looks like you got out of the house enough in August to enjoy the "summery" weather. Glad you had a great August.

We try to keep the rules as simple as possible and the signs to a minimum here at our park. Nobody seems to read them anyways!

  11. Enjoying summer to its fullest is a wonderful gift! (unlike those poor Albertans who are buried in snow right now).

Little Nico is a doll and will surely keep you young for many years.

p.s. that is the prettiest beach umbrella ever.

  13. Ironic that we had about a foot of snow today and we had to pull in the water hose because of freezing temps and are behind in reading blogs. Then we get to see great beach photos.
